I think a lot of the impression we got about the churches attacking the JW were overblown stories or completely made up. Nobody ever cared about the JW Bible, yes scholars will ‘attack’ it because the translation itself is poorly done and created with an agenda in mind, but after the Watchtower blew its credibility in serious circles, these scholars aren’t going to be rehashing their critiques in some vendetta, the JW religion after all is relatively insignificant.

California, so case was dismissed.
Apparently there was insufficient evidence, having only 1 witness appear.

Refuting the Alleged Evidence of Jesus' Resurrection
by truth_b_known inin the past few months there have been a few debates on this site over alleged evidence of the resurrection of jesus.
this can be a hot topic as most would agree that without the resurrection of jesus there would be no christianity.
i am not so sure of that, but i am more sure that dr. gary habermas' minimal facts approach to the resurrection has no evidentiary basis.. here is a 22 minute video on the topic.

@BluesBrother: the testimonium Flavianum is widely accepted to be a forgery and there are grave questions about the authenticity of the Tacitus passage, he does mention Christians but the establishment of Christ was introduced later in translation.
The question remains, why if the historicity of Jesus was established at the time, do his followers need to resort to forgeries, editing of the story and sometimes outright suppression of stories that don’t align with the majority opinion.

Great video, the claims put forward by so-called Christian scholars are easily refutable with simple logic. I’ve done it a few times on this forum. But then people have to accept the logic.

A Marxist is just a person that doesn’t understand economics. You don’t trade on past production, most oil trades is on futures. You pay for the expected future cost of drilling and transporting and consumption of oil.
Once you understand that, you understand why Keystone XL reduced costs under Trump. Why the Germans wanted Nordstrom2 despite the fact that it hasn’t moved a drop yet and would mean Russia invading Ukraine (this was predicted 2 years ago FYI by Trump, by Ted Cruz and a host of others).
So Biden was the direct cause of both the invasion of Ukraine and the price of gas rising besides all the other idiotic things he did (the extension of COVID, the variants since, economic depression etc)

Anyone else remember the Awake saying this?
by BottanicPepper ini may have put this in the wrong thread.
if so, i'm sorry.. my conundrum is this.... i am almost completely certain that an awake back in the 80's/90's mentioned a group of rock bands we shouldn't listen to and i seem to remember them actually naming guns and roses.. i can't find anything now, and i'm wondering if it's the mandela effect, or if it's another case of the cdrom versions of the awakes being doctored again.. does anyone else remember this?
or am i crazy?

@Biahi: Well, if your clientele is primarily sensitive folks, then it would make sense not to put out certain types of products. If your customers are asking for a specific thing and you don't carry it, you have to weight the risks and benefits as a business owner.
There are tons of people right now that stopped doing business in Russia because they hope they can put out a message. Others remain in Russia, because they have big stakes there and in China. Time will tell what will be profitable for them, bite the hand that feeds as they say.

Governing Body NOT going to heaven!
by BoogerMan inthe jw memorial takes place in 5 weeks time, and kh meetings resume on april 1st.. the worldwide campaign for spectators will kick off soon, so here are 3 questions to help jw's see the org's myth that their g.b.
is going to be amongst a crowd of 144,001 melchizedek king/priests in heaven.. 1) a ransom only buys back what has been lost, so what exactly did adam lose?.
2) how can jesus' ransom correspond with what adam lost, if it buys back far more than what was lost?.

Dude, way too deep for 99.9% of all JWs. No way they understand any of those things. Remember, if it’s not in the Watchtower, it’s the wrong interpretation.

@TheListener: Not entirely true, it swings back and forth, children will almost always be the opposite of the parents.
People in the 70s-90s were more conservative than their hippie parents, so we get a few years where even the left (eg. Clinton) have to be careful about taxes and spending. Their kids however are the woke that blame their parents' generation for all their problems and want increased taxes and spending. Kids that are now growing up and getting into their 16s-20s are very much opposed to the control 'their parents' are exercising over 'their Internet'. So you see a swing back into privacy and 75% of people under 30 own at least some cryptocurrencies and 25% of millionaires in that age bracket in the US became millionaires due to crypto, which is regulation-proof.
What we do see is a bigger swing and divide every generation though, until the thing collapses which is a real threat the government will face in the next 25-50 years when the majority of transactions are going to be done in a fashion that cannot be regulated or taxed. That is going to severely hurt the by-then-older people that fought their whole lives to live on government handouts. So I can see a future where anyone under 30 no longer contributes to the tax base, the people living on government benefits will starve, and starving people will fight wars to improve their plight (see Russia and China)

WATCHTOWER extracts 104 million from Trust in U.K. Plan to ditch Kingdom Halls at play??

If they go full-hybrid with the meetings, I can see in the future they will consolidate even more Kingdom Hall buildings and split the remaining ones in 2 or 4 to accommodate smaller groups doing their online stuff.
And as time progresses, more and more will be pushed online, first the special meetings, then the circuit meetings, then the assemblies and then after that it will be 10-15 years further and the new generation will be used to online meetings.

The National Redess Taxation Scheme is in Australia, not UK. But the UK thing has been known for a while, they are basically letting all the local halls go in favor of a centralized organization. That has been a thing in the US for a long time. The paperwork is simply par for the course, I guess it's too much work to close them all properly.
